Recycled asphalt millings are sold by the ton, so this calculator converts your driveway’s area and depth into cubic yards, then multiplies by an assumed density of 1.35 tons per cubic yard to get tons.
Formula: Cubic yards = (Length ft × Width ft × Depth ft) ÷ 27. Tons = Cubic yards × 1.35.
Worked example
A 30 ft x 12 ft driveway at a 3-inch depth, $30/ton:
- Depth in feet: 3 ÷ 12 = 0.250 ft
- Cubic yards: (30 × 12 × 0.250) ÷ 27 ≈ 3.33 yd³
