Frequently asked questions
How many bricks are in a square foot of wall?
About 6.75 modular bricks per square foot with standard 3/8-inch mortar joints — the exposed face of a modular brick plus its mortar is roughly 0.148 square feet. Larger formats like queen or king brick need fewer per square foot.
How much mortar do bricks need?
Plan on roughly three 80-lb bags of mortar mix per 100 bricks as a starting point. Wider joints, full bed joints, and block work all push consumption up — your supplier can refine the figure for your brick and joint style.
Should I account for broken bricks?
Yes — between shipping breakage, cuts at corners and openings, and color-matching culls, 5-10% waste is normal. Order the overage up front: matching a brick lot months later is notoriously difficult.
