Frequently asked questions
What are the layers under a paver patio?
A durable installation has three layers: 4-6 inches of compacted gravel base for structure, a 1-inch bedding sand layer for leveling, then the pavers themselves with sand-filled joints. We have a calculator for each layer.
How many pavers do I need per square foot?
It depends entirely on paver size: a 12×12 inch paver covers exactly one square foot, while smaller formats need four or more per square foot. Measure your paver, or use our standard-size default and adjust.
Do paver projects need extra material for cuts?
Yes — every edge that meets a border or curve requires cutting, and cut offcuts are often unusable. Add 5% for simple rectangular layouts and 10% or more for diagonal patterns and curves.
