How this calculator works
This combines material cost (cubic yards of concrete, from the standard slab-volume formula, times your price per cubic yard) with stamped-finish labor — a per-square-foot rate that covers pattern-stamping, coloring, and sealing, roughly double a plain broom-finish rate.
Formula: Cubic yards = (Length ft × Width ft × Depth ft) ÷ 27. Total cost = (Cubic yards × Price/yd³) + (Area sq ft × Labor rate/sq ft).
Worked example
A 12 ft × 12 ft (144 sq ft) stamped patio at 4 inches, $150/yd³ material, $12/sq ft labor:
- Depth in feet: 4 ÷ 12 = 0.3333 ft
- Cubic yards: (12 × 12 × 0.3333) ÷ 27 ≈ 1.7778 → 1.78 yd³
- Material cost: 1.7778 × $150 ≈ $266.67
- Labor cost: 144 × $12 = $1,728.00
- Total estimated cost: $1,994.67

Why does stamped concrete cost so much more than a plain patio?
