Manufactured stone veneer ships in boxes rated for a set square footage of flat coverage, commonly around 10 sq ft per box. This calculator divides your wall area by that coverage rate to get the number of boxes to order.
Formula: Boxes = Wall area (sq ft) ÷ 10 sq ft per box.
Worked example
A wall 20 ft long x 8 ft high (160 sq ft):
- Area: 20 × 8 = 160 sq ft
- Boxes: 160 ÷ 10 = 16 boxes
- At $180/box, that’s $2,880.00 before waste.

How to measure your wall
Measure the flat wall area you’re veneering in feet — length by height — and set that aside from any outside corner runs, which are quoted and ordered separately by the linear foot. Because manufactured stone has irregular, non-uniform pieces that need more fitting and cutting than a flat panel material, lean toward the higher end of the waste allowance, especially around window and door trim.

Do corner pieces come in the same box as the flats?
No — corner pieces are almost always sold and priced separately by the linear foot, not bundled into the flat-coverage boxes this calculator estimates. Measure your outside corners' total linear footage and get a separate quote for corner units before finalizing your order.
How much waste should I add for stone veneer?
10-15% is common, higher than many masonry materials, because manufactured stone profiles are irregular and require more cutting and fitting around edges, outlets, and window trim than a uniform brick or block course. Complex layouts with lots of returns push toward the higher end.
Is manufactured stone veneer installed differently from natural stone?
Yes — manufactured (cultured) stone veneer is lightweight cement-based material installed with mortar directly over a scratch coat and lath, without the structural footing natural stone veneer often requires.
