Formula: Volume = play area (sq ft) × depth (in ÷ 12).
Worked example
- Play area: 400 sq ft
- Depth: 9 inches (9 ÷ 12 = 0.75 ft)
- Volume: 400 × 0.75 = 300 ft³
- In cubic yards: 300 ÷ 27 ≈ 11.11 yd³
