Rubber mulch is sold in bags of shredded, recycled rubber nuggets used for landscape beds and playground surfacing. This calculator converts your area and depth into cubic yards, then divides by the standard 0.8 cubic foot bag size to give you a bag count.
Formula: Cubic yards = (Length ft × Width ft × Depth ft) ÷ 27. Bags = (Cubic yards × 27) ÷ 0.8.
Worked example
A 10 ft × 10 ft bed at a 3-inch depth:
- Depth in feet: 3 ÷ 12 = 0.25 ft
- Cubic yards: (10 × 10 × 0.25) ÷ 27 ≈ 0.9259 yd³
- Bags: (0.9259 × 27) ÷ 0.8 ≈ 31.25 bags
