Concrete Driveway Cost Calculator
Buy Concrete Driveway Cost at Home Depot →How this calculator works
This combines material cost (cubic yards of concrete, from the standard slab-volume formula, times your price per cubic yard) with a labor cost (your driveway area times a per-square-foot labor rate). Both price fields are editable placeholders.
Formula: Cubic yards = (Length ft × Width ft × Depth ft) ÷ 27. Total cost = (Cubic yards × Price/yd³) + (Area sq ft × Labor rate/sq ft).
Worked example
A 20 ft × 10 ft (200 sq ft) driveway at 4 inches, $150/yd³ material, $6/sq ft labor:
- Depth in feet: 4 ÷ 12 = 0.333 ft
- Cubic yards: (20 × 10 × 0.333) ÷ 27 = 2.47 yd³
- Material cost: 2.47 × $150 = $370.37
- Labor cost: 200 × $6 = $1,200.00
- Total estimated cost: $1,570.37
Cost reference (at default rates)
| Driveway size | Estimated total cost |
|---|---|
| 16 ft × 8 ft | ~$1,005 |
| 20 ft × 10 ft | ~$1,570 |
| 24 ft × 12 ft | ~$2,261 |
How to measure your area
Measure the full slab footprint in feet. If your driveway includes a turnaround or apron, split it into rectangles and sum the areas before entering a combined width, or run the calculator once per section.
Frequently asked questions
What's included in this concrete driveway cost estimate?
Material cost (cubic yards × price per yard) plus labor (area × labor rate). It doesn't include excavation, gravel base, rebar/mesh, or permits — those are separate line items.
How thick should a concrete driveway be?
4 inches is standard for passenger vehicles. Heavier vehicles (RVs, trucks) may need 5-6 inches.
What's a typical price per cubic yard for ready-mix concrete?
This defaults to $150/yd³ as a placeholder — actual ready-mix pricing varies by region and mix strength. Edit the price field to match a local supplier quote.
Why does this use cubic yards instead of tons like the asphalt calculator?
Ready-mix concrete is priced and delivered by the cubic yard, not by weight, so this calculator's material formula stops at cubic yards rather than converting to tons.
Is this the same as a concrete slab calculator?
The underlying volume formula is the same as any concrete slab, but this page adds a labor cost specifically framed for driveway installs, plus the driveway-appropriate default depth.
