How this calculator works
Gutter installation is usually priced by the linear foot, split into a material rate and a labor rate. This calculator takes your total gutter run — the combined length of every section of gutter going up — and multiplies it by each rate separately, then adds the two together for a total installed cost.
Formula: Total cost = gutter run length × material rate per ft + gutter run length × labor rate per ft.
Worked example
A 150 ft total gutter run, with a $4/ft material rate and a $4/ft labor rate:
- Material: 150 × $4 = $600
- Labor: 150 × $4 = $600
- Total installed cost: $600 + $600 = $1,200
Notes
Seamless aluminum gutters are the most common choice for residential jobs. They’re formed on-site from coil stock in one continuous piece per run, and they price close to the example above. Copper and half-round styles cost significantly more, both in material and in the specialized labor to install them.
Downspouts aren’t part of this estimate. They’re usually priced separately, per downspout, on top of the linear-foot gutter rate — so budget for them as an add-on once you know how many your roofline needs.

No. This calculator prices the linear-foot gutter run only. Downspouts are typically quoted separately, per downspout, on top of the gutter material and labor cost, so ask your contractor for that line item as an addition to this estimate.
