How this calculator works
Installed siding cost is material plus labor, both priced per square foot of wall. The calculator multiplies your wall area by each rate and splits out the totals.
Formula: Total = area × material rate + area × labor rate.
Worked example
A 40 ft × 10 ft wall (400 sq ft), $3/sq ft material, $3/sq ft labor:
- Area: 40 × 10 = 400 sq ft
- Material: 400 × $3 = $1,200
- Labor: 400 × $3 = $1,200
- Total installed: $2,400

How much does vinyl siding cost installed?
Vinyl siding typically runs $4–8 per square foot installed, split roughly evenly between material and labor. The calculator defaults to $3 material and $3 labor per square foot; replace them with quotes from local installers for an accurate figure.
What's included in the estimate?
Material cost (wall area × material rate) plus labor (area × labor rate). It excludes trim, house wrap, tear-off of old siding, and disposal — add those as separate line items when comparing bids.
How do I measure wall area?
Enter each wall's length and height; the calculator multiplies them. Add gable triangles and subtract large openings. For a whole house, sum every wall's area and enter it as one length × height, or run it per elevation.
Does tear-off of old siding cost extra?
Yes — removing and hauling old siding adds roughly $1–2 per square foot on top of the install. If you're re-siding, add that to the labor rate or as a separate line.
